Topher Grace will forever be remembered as Eric Forman, but nonetheless, Take Me Home Tonight is a must see for anyone who is a slap happy comedy fan. The plot is loosly based around some popular films like SuperBad, College, but takes place in the 1980's, which makes for a decent movie. A party dare turns dangerous when a large steel ball—with Matt inside—careens down a hill and off of cars, then plunges down a steep embankment, through fences and finally into a pool. Barry manages to accidentally knock over every display rack in a music store.
Matt’s dad, a cop, does more damage to the vehicle with his baton. Then, he and his partner aggressively shove Barry and Matt to the ground. This raucous comedy follows a group of recent college graduates on one last Labor Day weekend before they start their lives in the real world.

Kyle and Wendy repeatedly tell friends about how they were caught having sex by his grandmother. When Matt runs into his high school dream girl Tori , who acts like he never existed, he tries to impress her. She invites him to a one-night-only mega-party hosted by Wendy’s boyfriend, an event that serves as a de facto, post-college, high school reunion in which Matt fears facing his much more successful peers. He teams up with Wendy and his best friend, the hedonistic Barry , to go to the party. Along the way, however, Barry steals a fancy convertible from the car dealership that just fired him for dishonesty and now the trio are also in danger of running afoul of the law. I was a little confused about if it took place in the 80s or it was an 80s party though.
She fully exposes her breasts, which he gropes. And she performs oral sex on him and initiates intercourse—while her even older male friend lustfully watches. Barry is repulsed by the man’s presence, but not so much that he halts the activities … until the woman begins hitting him. After Barry flees, it’s implied that the woman and her friend couple as well. The former mathlete, who won the attendance award every year in high school, is now an MIT grad. Matt Franklin works at a video store and lives with his parents.
Box Office
Thanks to the fine casting and the earnest devotion to the old, all-night-party genre, the movie works its warm, funny magic and casts a spell that's both nostalgic and naughty. It's so good-natured and sweet, in fact, that somehow the heavy language, sex, and drugs don't seem particularly shocking or offensive (but that doesn't mean that it's an age-appropriate pick for younger viewers). From the trailer, I thought the film was gonna be stupid and boring. However, after watching the film, I was pleasantly surprised by it. It reminded me of movies like License to Drive, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, and Grosse Point Blank. I thought this was a better version of an homage to the 1980s than the movie, Hot Tub Time Machine.
This was a good purchase and the movie is a pretty good movie also the movie actually takes place in the 80's i believe. Will usually ship within 1 business day of receiving cleared payment. Before they have to wake up to the harsh smell of adulthood and maturity, two best friends live a life of parties and irresponsibility during Labor Day weekend 1988.
Where to watch
On the one hand, you can try to capture the zeitgeist as it’s happening -- think Reality Bites or the classic John Hughes movies. The other choice is to look back a decade or two and try to sum up where we were -- see American Graffiti or Dazed and Confused. Take Me Home Tonight wants to be like a classic Brat Pack flick, but it makes the mistake of playing up to Gen-X nostalgia rather than creating memorable or original characters. Recent MIT grad Matt Franklin should be working for a Fortune 500 company and starting his upward climb to full-fledged yuppie-hood. Instead, the directionless 23-year-old confounds family and friends by taking a part-time job behind the counter of a video store at the Sherman Oaks Galleria. But Matt's silent protest against maturity comes to a screeching halt once his unrequited high school crush, Tori Frederking, walks into the store.

Second, both Topher Grace and Anna Faris were a breath of fresh air. It's hard to bring anything new to a film like this, which is evident by characters like Dan Fogler's, which was stale and predictable. Grace and Faris on the other hand really had great chemistry and add a unique dynamic to the typical drunken loser genre. Take Me Home Tonight isn't going to win any awards, but it was a lot more entertaining than I thought it would be.
Near the end of the yearbook credits, the phrase "don't worry, be happy" appears with a yellow happy face. "Don't Worry, Be Happy", the Bobby McFerrin song that popularized the phrase, wasn't released until 1988. They won't be able to see your review if you only submit your rating. It has a charming sweetness about it, but Take Me Home Tonight is neither funny nor original enough to live up to the comedies it evokes. Stay up-to-date on all the latest Rotten Tomatoes news! Matt finds Tori and tries to apologize, but she is unwilling to forgive him. Feeling he has nothing to lose, Matt volunteers to "ride the ball", hitting several parked cars then flying off an embankment, landing in a backyard swimming pool. He almost drowns before escaping the sinking ball. The title comes from the 1986 Eddie Money song of the same name, also played in the theatrical trailer and on the menu screen of the Blu-Ray and DVD releases.

Recent MIT grad Matt Franklin should be well on his way to a successful career at a Fortune 500 company, but instead, he rebels against maturity by taking a job at a video store. Matt rethinks his position when his unrequited high-school crush, Tori , walks in and invites him to an end-of-summer party. With the help of his twin sister and his best friend , Matt hatches a plan to change the course of his life.
Featuring Topher Grace, Anna Faris, Dan Fogler, and Teresa Palmer, the film has a strong cast that's able to bring the comedy. The '80s aesthetic is brilliantly done, and completely encapsulates the energy and style of the period without being gaudy or meta. Additionally, the soundtrack is outstanding and gives the film personality.
Matt Franklin is a recent MIT graduate, working at a Los Angeles Suncoast Video store in 1988 while trying to figure out what he wants to do with his life, something that his police officer father has grown impatient with. When Matt's high school crush, Tori Frederking, walks into the store, he lies that he works at Goldman Sachs. Tori invites Matt to a Labor Day party, hosted by his twin sister Wendy's boyfriend, Kyle. There are endless camera set-ups to define various groupings of characters who perform badly-written dialogue. Among these characters are Matt's twin sister Wendy and her boyfriend Kyle . Wendy is holding an envelope which will tell her if she has been accepted to "Cambridge University." Kyle thinks they should get married.
